AIIAS Hosts 23rd International Research Conference Focused on Proactive Recovery

AIIAS held its 23rd AIIAS International Research Conference on November 15-17, 2022, with the theme “Proactive Recovery in Business, Education, and Public Health.” The event which was held virtually due to the COVID-19 Pandemic attracted 257 participants from various other academic institutions worldwide.

 

The conference aimed to stimulate discussions on crisis management, proactive planning, preparedness, and response for crisis recovery.

 

According to AIIAS Graduate School Dean Kenneth Swansi, “Crisis of various types are part of organizational life and of human existence in general. To navigate through such difficult times, we need to focus on both crisis preparedness and crisis response. What is more important is that we become proactive, and it is only then that organizational recovery and resilience, after a devastating crisis, can become possible.”

 

The conference featured seasoned keynote speakers who shared effective strategies learned through their professional experiences. These include Arceli Rosario, president of the Adventist University of the Philippines, who spoke about “Leading a University in the Post-Pandemic Era: A Personal Journey”; Gary Chartier, distinguished professor of law and business ethics and associate dean of the Zapara School of Business at La Sierra University who discussed about “Decentralization and Social Experimentation: The Heart of Proactive Recovery”; and Milton Teske, health officer for Kings County Department of Public Health in California who talked about “Lifestyle Enables Proactive Resilience”.

 

In addition to the keynote sessions, the conference featured research seminars led by experts in the field. Shawna Vyhmeister, a former education professor at AIIAS discussed about “Putting Philosophy Back into Doctoral Philosophy”; Jimmy Kijai, Andrews University Research and Statistical Methodology professor who spoke on “Conceptual Framework in Research”; and by and Pavel Zubkov, Doctor of Missiology program director at AIIAS and Arceli Rosario who led a seminar on “Ethical Practices in Online Research.” These sessions were designed to guide and assist scholars in achieving success for their research journey.

 

Throughout the iconference, 52 scholars, instructors, and professors from AIIAS and institutions in the Philippines, Africa, Asia, North America, and South America shared their research findings.

 

The iConference also featured a plenary session on a reference management software demonstration by Lyra Ilagan and Vanlalhruaii Swansi of the Leslie Hardinge Library. The software is a useful tool for researchers. A roundtable discussion also followed before the closing of the event.

 

The next International Research Conference is scheduled to happen on November 14-16, 2023, and will be an in-person event held at AIIAS. The organizers look forward to another successful scholarly collaboration with participants from various academic entities worldwide.
