AIIAS is soon to launch a 12-part webinar series on Healthy Families, which will run the third Sunday of each month from August 2021 to July 2022. The Healthy Families webinars will kick off the President’s Series, a new initiative inspired by a need to strengthen and broaden co-curricular leader preparation at AIIAS. The AIIAS president’s goal was to bring experts to AIIAS in order to provide real-life leader enrichment, with a different theme each year. Having noticed that leaders often have no training for building healthy families and balanced marriage relationships, and that this lack of understanding can quickly disable a leader from their potential effectiveness, Dr. Ginger Ketting-Weller chose the Healthy Families theme for the first annual President’s Series.
Invited to provide the first annual series is guest speaker Barbara Couden Hernandez, PhD, LMFT, RN, who serves as the director of Physician Vitality and professor of medical education at Loma Linda University. Dr. Hernandez is a clinical diplomate of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. In addition, she has directed five university counseling offices, maintained a private psychotherapy practice, and worked as a professor in mental health graduate programs since 1995.
This year’s series of webinars will cover topics related to family relationships, personal and family development, family failures, parenting issues, and principles for building and maintaining a healthy, balanced and faithful marriage.
