AIIAS is a growing family. The increase in student enrollment trends and additional academic programs brought up an urgent need for adequate faculty housing. The number of faculty duplexes is the same today as it was when AIIAS relocated to the present campus.
Following a string of campus development, Dr. Stephen Guptill, AIIAS President, announced on October 24, the plans to construct two faculty duplexes within the Kingfisher Park.
Speaking before faculty and students, Guptill explained the need for this expansion, saying, “With our growing faculty and growing challenges, we need more space.”
AIIAS officials added that this development is a priority considering that a ranked faculty is presently waiting for AIIAS housing, and new faculty members for the DMiss and Education programs are expected to join AIIAS in the future. Furthermore, three AIIAS upgradees who will be finishing between 2017 and 2019 will join the AIIAS faculty shortly after their graduation.
“Our board and our finance committee have authorized us to build two additional faculty duplexes which will provide four family units,” noted Guptill.
The two duplexes will cost a total of US $300,000 and will be funded by donations from the Northern-Asia Pacific Division, the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, AIIAS alumni and friends, and the capital funds of AIIAS.
The construction of the two duplexes is to begin immediately and is estimated to be completed by April 2017.
The Kingfisher Park is a newly cleared 1.3 hectares of jungle on the south side of the AIIAS campus. It was named after the brightly colored birds that grace the campus. It is now being developed into an area for picnics and exercise.
