AIIAS Seminary professor and chair of the theological-historical department, Dr. Remwil Tornalejo, has moved to Mountain View College, Bukidnon, Philippines, where he was appointed to serve as college president beginning with the 2022-2023 school year.
Tornalejo has worked at AIIAS for the past 16 years, serving in various roles as an assistant professor, associate professor, and professor in the theological-historical department of the AIIAS Seminary.
Before arriving at AIIAS, Tornalejo worked as a district pastor at North Central Mindanao Conference, as dean and instructor of the Literature Ministry Seminary in the South Philippine Union Conference, and as chair of the South Philippine Adventist College Theology Department.
Tornalejo shares his gratitude particularly for his “academic growth and the opportunity to travel around the world and to see our four children grow up here at AIIAS.” It was also at AIIAS where he attained the full rank of a professor and the opportunity to publish books and articles in theological journals. In addition, he has appreciated the opportunity to train leaders, the spirit of mutual respect, and professionalism among colleagues.
Faculty typically come to AIIAS with their spouses as a team, each serving in their roles. Marilou Tornalejo, appreciated at AIIAS for her effervescent personality, has served as the assistant for the Ellen G. White Estate Branch Office (2007-2014) and as a teacher at AIIAS Academy (2014-2022). She will serve in roles as librarian and part-time teaching at Mountain View College and its academy.
“It has been a privilege to have had Dr. Remwil Tornalejo as one of the faculty at the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies for more than sixteen years,” says Dr. Ricardo Gonzalez, dean of the AIIAS Seminary. “As dean of the Seminary, I would like to highlight his collegial and Christian interactions with all his peers and students, his permanent support of our mission, and his scholarly contributions to our institution. As assistant editor for the Seventh-day Adventist Encyclopedia in the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, he has helped to make real the lives and history of the people and institutions that have laid the foundations for proclaiming the three angels’ message of Revelation 14:6-12 in this part of the world. May God continue to bless Dr. Tornalejo as he takes over his new responsibilities as the president of Mountain View College.”
“To say that it is hard to leave AIIAS is an understatement. Maybe we have spent the best years of our life here. We will miss AIIAS, we will miss [being together as] a family, but we have to answer a call to duty,” concludes Tornalejo.
May God bless you in your new field of ministry, Dr. Remwil, and Marilou. Our prayers support you.
