About 80 ministerial workers, students, and faculty from the AIIAS Theological Seminary, attended the 2nd Annual AIIAS Preaching Lectureship that was held on January 19-20, 2017 as a partnership between the ministerial department of the Southern Asia Pacific Division, North Philippine Union Conference, Central Luzon Conference, and AIIAS.
“Preaching is vital to the sharing of the beautiful Adventist message… This special lectureship is an opportunity, for the novice as well as the seasoned veteran, to learn how to more effectively proclaim the Word of God,” says Dr. Michael Campbell, associate professor in the AIIAS Theological Seminary.
“Together we’re working on creating opportunities for both current pastors that are in the field… and pastors that are in training, as well as professors so that we can all communicate the beautiful Advent message, the gospel that we have, to the world,” added Campbell.
Guest speaker, Dr. Hyveth Marjorie Williams, Professor of Preaching/Director of Homiletics, Interim Seminary Chaplain for the Christian Ministry Department in Andrews University, came to discuss a series of presentations on preaching and communicating God’s message as well as plenty of insights and practical advice for ministers and for those from other professions as well.
“There’s a lot of things in the world of God that Christians of other faith need to hear,” said Williams. “Go under the radar and do the will of God, serve God and win God’s children… God has blessed this church with the very best message. Let’s get back to the basics and fall in love with the message again,” appealed Williams.
“The lectures were very informative and I was able to learn many things. I am now more encouraged to search the Scriptures deeper,” says Raymer Modillas, Jr., one of the participating chaplains from Adventist Medical Center Manila.
The Preaching Lectureship creates an opportunity for practical guidance about how to develop effective sermons through ministerial tools that can help people communicate God’s Word more effectively.
