Students Enjoy the Beach for Annual Picnic

AIIAS students and families enjoyed a day of rest, recreation, and activity-filled outing at Aquaria Beach Resort which is two hours by road travel from AIIAS campus.

Early Sunday morning of September 11, 2016, the group met by the Bell Tower for prayer led by the SA Sponsor, Dr. Dioi Cruz. The group then boarded five buses that left AIIAS at 6:20 a.m. A total of 280 people joined the event.

Upon arriving at the resort, everyone proceeded with their own activities of enjoyment and many were seen taking photos.

“There was a long stretch of the beach. As soon as we got there, people started playing football, volleyball, and handball. Some got into the water and tried the slides,” described Hamengamon Kharsynniang, a student from India. “Although I’ve already been to the beach before, the presence of friends made it feel like a new experience,” he added.

Crhistian Palacios from Colombia commented, “I enjoyed the outing especially because of the sea and my friends. Back home I don’t have the chance to visit the sea. It was a wonderful day.”

Aquaria Beach Resort is a 525-meter area of private beach and water park located within Playa Calatagan Residences in Calatagan, Batangas, a province situated south of AIIAS campus.

“I liked the promotion efforts. The deadline for registration and the emphasis for punctuality were handled well. It was a good opportunity for the faculty to mingle with the students,” said Anita Pena, a student from the Dominican Republic.

The Student Association (SA) Social Committee, led by Henry Tembo, SA Social Chairperson, organized the event. Aquaria Beach Resort was the most desired venue that was voted by the student body for this year’s outing destination.

Henry Tembo from Malawi shared, “It was one of the best outings we’ve had. Everyone enjoyed it. It was worthwhile. The efforts, the expense, and everything must have gone well.”

AIIAS encourages students to participate in outings as it promotes balanced life, fellowship and celebrates diversity.
