Team Spirit and Camaraderie

The AIIAS community came together to participate in the Mini Olympics, an annual event led by the AIIAS Student Association.

Divided into four teams namely Blue, Green, Grey, and Red, team spirit and camaraderie was displayed as students, faculty, and staff joined in friendly interaction through sports and individual games held on January 25-28, 2018. The games this year were basketball, volleyball, tennis, soccer, and badminton. Also there were track and field activities as well as simple games where all ages were able to enjoy.

As the Olympic flame was lit by AIIAS President, Dr. Stephen Guptill, the bell tower was also lit up by LED strip lighting from top to bottom for the first time which added to the excitement present in everyone’s faces. This opened the beginning of the event.

“I enjoyed the spirit of cooperation, rather than competition. It felt like one big family playing together exhibiting the true spirit of sportsmanship. I was amazed to see all the teams awarded equally at the end of the games,” said Dan Namanya, MAR student from Uganda.

The winning team was announced with Green being the champion for this year’s event followed by Grey, Red, and Blue teams. The next Mini Olympics will be held January 31 to February 3, 2019.
