Adventist World Church President, Elder Ted Wilson urged the academic community of Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies to uphold their identity as a prophetic movement with a prophetic message.
“Your prime reason for learning at this pre-eminent institution is to learn how to connect yourselves and others in heaven,” says Elder Wilson. “Never forget who you are.”
He emphasized that in an academia, it is easy to feel relaxed and confined in the comfort of this campus that reaching out to other people is becoming less of a priority.
“You are able to obtain academic achievement here but the Lord’s calling for each of us is to remain true to the purpose of what education is all about.”
This message is relevant to the church’s initiative to reach urban areas with the gospel message. For this reason, the evangelism series “Hope Metro Manila 2014: iCare” is being carried out in the city of Manila, just 45 kilometers North of AIIAS for which Elder Wilson is the speaker.
AIIAS is actively participating in this program by having some personnel assisting the ‘iCare’ team in Manila in the person of Dr. Jim Park as evangelism lecturer of the field school of evangelism and Arnold Ledesma as the media support staff.
Elder Wilson who was in AIIAS Campus on Thursday, May 8, 2014 took delight in the opportunity to deliver a special devotional and prayer before 200 faculty members, staff and their families. During his 4-hour visit, Elder Wilson addressed the AIIAS Board members who are meeting for the biannual council.
For the past few years, AIIAS has emphasized its important role in mission evident by the motto: Graduate Education with a Heart for Mission.
